“This is a Message from the Street”
What does it look like to live on the streets? It doesn’t matter — God is able!
I was often judged by my appearance. People would look at me and say, “You’re lying. You don’t live on the street; you look like you belong in Sandton City.”
But my God is a God of grace. You know why? Because even in the darkness of the streets at night, He brings light. He never leaves me. I’ve seen that He is with me, in me, and working through me — even in the most dangerous places. He protects, guides, and teaches me. My greatest pride is that I’ve learned to stay in the meditation of His Word. And I never go a day without hearing the voice of God in my spirit.
In the silence of the night, I hear His whisper — and I know it’s time for the Great Commission. God healed me on the street. He comforted me. He spoke with me. And I would be lying if I said I didn’t recognize His voice — the voice of Jesus Christ, my Lord.
While living on the streets, God introduced me to something that changed my life: daily affirmations from the Loveworld platforms. I began to take them seriously, training myself to speak Rhema — a living, active word — in the moment.
Then one day, I came across an affirmation that said something which hit deep:
“I am a businessman. I produce goods for my country.”
I paused. “Is this really about me?” I asked myself. “How can I have a business while living on the street?” But I realized — maybe God is establishing something in me. Maybe this is my calling — and it’s time to take action.
That one affirmation changed my life completely.
By the grace of God, I picked up my notebook and began drafting a name, slogan, and description for the business God had just revealed. Surprisingly, it didn’t take long. One name came to my spirit and stuck — no competition, no second thoughts:
An organization designed to teach young graduates how to start a business from scratch — with little or no money — using low-cost start-up ideas that work.
Then something amazing happened — right there on the street. My God — the God of unstoppable grace — was still writing my story.
I was staying with two brothers and an older man who also had no home. One of the brothers loved reading what I wrote. I would often give him flyers and designs for Rise Up Youth Hub. One day, we went out together to collect takeaways (free food from a kind outreach). He approached a Pastor (an English gentleman who led the outreach) and gave him one of my flyers, explaining the purpose of the business program.
The Pastor was so impressed. He couldn’t believe something so intelligent and powerful came from people living on the streets. He asked for our contact numbers, but we didn’t have phones. Still, God doesn’t need a phone to work. The Pastor gave us his WhatsApp number on a small piece of paper.
From that day, I gave my brother a new name: Sales and Marketing Manager. He is wise, educated, and articulate — I now understand why God made sure we met. God always brings the right people at the right time.
I’m deeply aware that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are at work in me every day — 24/7. I will never lack. My mind is filled with positive thoughts, and the fruit of the Spirit gives me unending joy.
As the days passed, I completed all the branding for Rise Up Youth Hub:
✅ Flyers that speak for themselves
✅ Business cards
✅ Branded T-shirts
✅ Updated WhatsApp content
The only thing left was to contact the Pastor regarding the Rise Up Youth program. So, I chose a day to call him. And guess what?
💥 I got the contract!
That very day, God sent an investor — someone to help with equipment, space rental, and classrooms for Rise Up Youth – Thato Business Hub.
🙌 Glory to God!
This is not just my testimony — it’s a message from the street to the world:
God’s grace knows no boundaries.
He can raise anyone, from anywhere — for His purpose and glory.
